Extensive Prepreg Capability.
Yokohama has tremendous capability and facilities for in-house Prepreg manufacturing. We produce a range of glass, carbon, and Kevlar fibers in fabric, unidirectional and roving forms. We employ a range of matrix resins, including epoxy, phenolic, bismaleimide, and polymide. All are qualified to the applicable Boeing specifications BMS 8-79, BMS8-151, BMS8-168 and BMS8-219, BMS8-260.
Our F6986 is a popular matrix resin for exterior aerospace applications. It has self-extinguishing properties, moderate sandwich bonding strength, and excellent mechanical properties and handling characteristics. Applications are for various secondary structural aircraft parts, such as flaps and fairings.
We have two types of Prepreg resins for interior applications, F21003 for glass and F6927 for Kevlar. Both have self-extinguishing properties and are easy to cure by low-pressure autoclave or oven. They are used for various interior sandwich panels and laminate parts.
Yokohama also produces high-temperature resistant polymide Prepreg for extreme applications such as space and defense.
Yokohama is one of the world's leading Prepreg producers and owns 35% of the Japanese Prepreg market.
